The total surpassed the previous year's amount by £3million. From this figure of £36million, around £89,000 will be given to to the following causes in our county. We'll be speaking to all the recipients in the build up to the 2008 Children in Need. Suffolk Artlink£9066 was awarded to Suffolk Artlink to fund two Clown Doctors, who work with sick children at a major regional hospital. The hospital receives a weekly visit from one of the clowns, and the money will be used for their fees and materials. The clown doctors scheme has already proved popular in Europe and this is the second of its kind in the UK. Greenfingers ProductionChildren with severe, profound and complex special needs will benefit from an interactive multi-sensory show. Funding of £7000 has been provided for the funding and development of the show. Pro Corda TrustLeiston Abbey plays host to a popular 5-day residential course in music, performance and social skills for those aged 11-16 with special educational needs. A grant of £41,102 will fund staffing, accommodation, equipment maintenance, travel, admin, facilities and prizes. Scamps - Suffolk Children with AutisM Play SchemeThe support group for children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their parents/carers will benefit from a £7568 investment - spread out until 2011. Children with an ASD have a different perception of sounds, sights, smell, touch and taste, which affects their response to these sensations. The support group provides a structured and supportive environment for children with ASD to learn and build on their emerging/stalled social and communication skills - as well as providing support for parents and carers. The Allsortz GroupThe Allsortz Group received £25,380 over three years for their workshops for autistic children aged 6 to 13. The project provides the children with the opportunity to take part in creative workshops, learning new skills and relaxation techniques. This helps to improve the self confidence and social skills of the children. last updated: 30/10/2008 at 15:05 Have Your SayAnia SEE ALSOYou are in: Suffolk > Children in Need > Children in Need 2007: Where the money went |
