BBC Radio Suffolk’s Children in Need auction is back. On Friday 18th November you can bid for prizes all day on BBC Radio Suffolk. All the money raised will go to the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal 2005. Remember every penny raised in Suffolk stays in Suffolk. BBC Radio Suffolk is proud to offer you the following auction items: BREAKFAST: 0700-0800: A VIP trip to the theatre The successful bidder will be given a meal for four at the Vanilla Pod Restaurant in Ipswich and a box at the Ipswich Regent to see Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance on Wednesday 7th December. 0800-0900: A hospitality box at Ipswich Town This is for 12 people courtesy of Powergen for ITFC v Reading on Tuesday 22nd November. Powergen will also provide a buffet meal and complimentary drinks. Kick off is at 7.45pm. 0900-1000: A trial flight from Beccles Airport The successful bidder will be given a full pre-flight briefing and be allowed to take the controls when the aircraft is in the air. Afterwards they will be de-briefed and can put this first flight in their log book. MID MORNING: 1000-1100: A VIP trip to the 2006 Guineas Festival at Newmarket Racecourse We are offering a trip for two people to the 2006 Guineas festival at Newmarket's Rowley Mile course. The successful bidder will be picked up in a limousine from their door on the Saturday and taken to the course for an afternoon of racing. Saturday's ticket includes lunch at the Bistro and the limousine journey. The tickets will be valid for Saturday and Sunday. 1100-1200: A complete makeover Fashion/beauty PR and image consultant, Carol Spenser, is offering assistance with colour advice for clothes and make-up. She will also bring along a top Suffolk hair stylist to complete the look! A little known fact about Carol is that she worked with Trinny and Susannah of “What Not To Wear” fame in there early days at Granada television and pretty much taught them everything they know! 1200-1300: Adopt an animal Colchester Zoo is offering the chance to adopt an animal for a year. The successful bidder will be given a silver adoption box. The recipient gets four complimentary entries, a profile and a photograph of the species chosen and a personalised Adoption Certificate. AFTERNOONS: 1300-1400: A family Portrait Elm Studios, based in the heart of Ipswich, is one of the county's longest established photography studios specialising in family photographs sessions for up to 15 people! They are very kindly donating the opportunity for three groups to have an extra special treat this Christmas with a family photography session at their St Peter's Street studio! Three x family portrait sessions each including one 7x5 enlargement. The value of each session including the 7x5 print is £41.00. 1400-1500: An individually hand crafted piece of jewellery Claire of clairecraft.co.uk has been making jewellery for four years now and works both independently and through the Diverse Clothing store in Needham Market. She specialises in bead work - pictures on her website! She has agreed to create a special piece to the successful bidder's exact specifications - either as a special treat for the bidder or as an extra special Christmas present! 1500-1600: A VIP trip to the Pantomime It’s that time of year again – panto season has begun. To celebrate we are offering a box at the Ipswich Regent to see Peter Pan plus personally signed programmes (subject to date availability). Starring Brian Blessed as the 'ultimate' Captain Hook and Kirsten O'Brien from CBBC as Peter Pan. Duo Entertainment presents a spellbinding production of J. M. DRIVETIME: 1600-1700: A massive John Peel poster BBC Radio Suffolk produced three bigger than life posters of John Peel for the John Peel Day on 13th October which were used on the stage. Please note that there is slight marking on the edge of the posters caused during transportation to the Cornhill. The posters are mounted on plywood for ease of fixing and stability. One of these posters is now adorning the walls of BBC Radio Suffolk and you have the opportunity to bid for the other two. These posters are really collectable and now is your chance to own one! 1700-1800: Three signed copies of 'From Buddy to the Beatles' The Regent in Ipswich is the region's biggest theatre and over the years some of the biggest names in showbiz have graced its stage. BBC Radio Suffolk's Drivetime presenter Stephen Foster and well known local photographer David Kindred have written a book on the venue's rock'n'roll years. It's called 'From Buddy To The Beatles' and among the many acts featured is Cliff Richard, a regular visitor to Suffolk in the late fifties/early sixties.
