Splashing for cash

Raising money for Children in Need is all about doing crazy things that you wouldn't normally do. But local brass band, Ceramica, really have taken this idea to its limit. They've performed a sponsored concert in a swimming pool.

"We were thinking about venues we hadn't performed in and thought - we haven't performed in a swimming pool before, lets do that!" So says Alan Sargeant, the secretary of Ceramica brass band, when asked why on earth they decided to perform in a swimming pool.

Performing in the pool

Not a sight you will usually see

The Splash Landings hotel at Alton Towers agreed to let them use their pool and the deal was on. So on 9th November 2007 about fifteen members of the band turned up in their swimming costumes with their shirts and bow-ties over the top.

They waded out into the pool with their instruments - much to the amusement of the children using the pool - and proceeded to play.
