William with Ben
William with Ben

The mystery of the disappearing dog!

By Dave Bradley
Mystery stories are always full of intruige ... and this one is no different! The question is, had Ben the dog wandered off for the last time to end his days? Or was skulduggery afoot, could this be a dog napping???

Holdgrange Benjamin Blue was a 14 years old pedigree English Setter Dog Living at the Bradley household at Lilac Cottage. Ben was the son of a Crufts winner but for the Bradley’s and especially William he was a great mate and a member of the family. He lived a life of luxury with Sam the Westie and Barney the Jack Russell. Ben’s usual day was spent lying in the sun or in the kitchen in front of the Aga.

Pat arrived back from school with Will her son who was 14 years old and immediately set out to search for Ben

Pat and Will were concerned as Ben had been ill for several years, and was surviving thanks to a special diet of pasta and a special powder mix supplied by the vet. He was thin and looked underfed but due to his condition was unable to put on weight.

They searched high and low but even though they search his usual haunts there was not a sing of Ben anywhere.

Dad Dave came home from work and the search continued until dusk still no sign.
