Helping escape violence

It's not only youngsters who benefit from Children In Need's help and support in Staffordshire. Find out more about how the money you raise helps local people...

Women and children suffering from domestic violence often feel that there is no escape from their problems.

But a women's refuge in Staffordshire can offer a safe house, away from difficult relationships and stressful environments.

Children are given their own time, space and support at the refuge, thanks to a play leader funded by Children In Need. And that in turn helps single parents to reorganise their lives, rebuild relationships and plan for the future.

BBC Staffordshire online has been granted special access to the refuge in Staffordshire, and been allowed to talk to one of the recent residents as well as the play leader that your donations support.

'Jan' has used the services of the refuge and found that special support for her children, has also helped her too...
