Tim Wedgwood with Calum, Holly and Sian

School Day's 'Tim Wedgwood Show'

Tim Wedgwood invited three young students from Endon High - Holly, Sian and Calum - on to his show. It was all part of BBC Radio Stoke's School Day project and here's what they had to say about the whole experience...

Holly

After a subway for lunch and a bit of a shopping spree, we went into BBC Radio Stoke and met up with Tim.

Firstly, we looked through the papers from the previous seven days and found some good talking points for the newspaper section on the show. Then we were straight on the radio and co-presenting with Tim Wedgwood.

It's been a really good day, but also a nerve wracking one at times!! I made a few stumbles, but ones that I hope were recovered.

It's been a really worthwhile experience which I'd like to thank Mrs Large at Endon High and Joel and Tim at BBC Radio Stoke for.

Sian

Today has been so good! I got to have a lie in and thanks to some lucky mistake we turned up 2 hours early to Radio Stoke so after some lunch and some shopping (great bargain - a belt for a fiver!!) we went back to Radio Stoke and looked through all the week's newspapers to find some interesting stories to talk about on 'Drivetime'.

Then it was straight down to the studio to start the show. I joined on the newspaper review and gave my opinion on the stories we found. Then after an hour doing that (time goes really fast in the studio) I went to join the producer and learn about everything that happens outside the studio. This was lucky because we got to watch the football.

It has been a really interesting day and has been a great experience. Thanks to everyone involved.

Calum

After wandering around Hanley as we arrived 2 hours early, due to a mistake in the schedule, we met up with Tim at BBC Radio Stoke and started the day.

First we decided what stories we were going to talk about in the newspaper review at the start of the show, which was interesting and fun as we got to appreciate many of the ironic stories and angles the press use.

Once we got on air I was nervous at first, but I soon relaxed, too much as both me and Holly were caught out having one eye on the football and missing our cues! But overall, I have found it a thoroughly enjoying and engrossing experience.

Fair Trade, Council Tax and Face Transplants – it’s all up for discussion in Tim Wedgwood’s weekly paper review. Holly, Calum and Sian did a double turn as panellists and co-presenters, giving their view on the week’s news…
