Here's what they all thought of the day: Amy - Co-PresenterWhen I arrived at BBC Radio Stoke I was so nervous and I didn't want to get anything wrong when I read my lines on air. Joel took me and Tom down to the studio and Fern started to talk… I was next to speak! Once I had said my first line I was ok, and I now felt loads better. Fern was a great presenter to work with and I'm sure Tom would say the same. All through the program we had texts from people at Endon High, and I was cool reading them out!! At the end of the program I said Hi to my friends and family and it was great!! Tom - Co-PresenterWhen I arrived at BBC Radio Stoke I was worried and didn't know what it was going to be like. When Joel took me down the the studio I was thinking about messing up my lines and forgetting what to say. The programme started and Amy said her first line then I said my line and it went fine. After a bit it was fine and the nerves had settled down and I thought this is really fun. Talking to the callers and reading the texts that listeners had sent with my and Amy's name in were really good to hear. Kevin Fernihough - PresenterNever work with children or animals ….. (so the old adage goes!!!) So, what were two young student from Endon High School thinking of when they agreed to spend 3hrs, in a studio, with a bloke called 'Fernihough' presenting BBC Radio Stoke's weekday afternoon show???? Arguably ill advised by both teachers and fellow class mates, Tom and Amy burst into the production office a good hour before we went 'on air'. Slightly nervous but full of ideas, they quickly set about writing and rehearsing the scripts they intended to use on the show. What first impressed me about my two co-presenters was how focused they both were, knowing exactly WHAT they wanted from the show …. and where they wanted to take it. So could they "talk the talk" as well as "walk the walk"???? The answer to that one came within the opening 20 minutes of the show, having chatted and hit it off with the opening caller 'on air'. Amy sat back, sighted deeply, and said ….. "I'm gonna enjoy this." And my thoughts on them? I've been so impressed by the skill they showed on air and the confidence of their 'can do' approach to doing it. It's been fun for all of us. |
