Rooney still hopes to earn a place in the GB World Championship squad |
Olympic 400m finalist Martyn Rooney is out of next weekend's UK Championships and World Championships trials in Birmingham after injuring a hamstring. The 22-year-old recorded his best-ever start to a season last weekend, running a time of 45.35 seconds on his first appearance of the year. But he felt a problem in training and as a precaution has chosen to rest. Rooney hopes to prove his fitness to the world championship selectors at the London Grand Prix on 24-25 July. | 606: DEBATE |
The world championships take place in Berlin from 15-23 August.
