Speaking on Saturday about the men's singles draw:

What we're saying is that Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz would have to be both healthy and winning in every Slam against every other player in the draw for Zverev to not be the favourite in a situation like now. I don't think this is going to be an isolated incident.

I think that there's going to be other Slams. It might not be this year. Maybe Sinner goes on a run at Wimbledon and the US Open, but then we get to next year. Maybe Sinner's injured and Alcaraz has a tough loss. Any time to me, for the foreseeable that Sinner or Alcaraz goes down, Zverev is the favourite.

    De Jong 3-0 Zverev*

Alexander Zverev has not settled yet with unforced errors cascading from the German's racquet.

Another mistimed forehand into the net gives Jesper de Jong a second break point of the game - can he make this one count?

He can as Alexander Zverev drags a backhand wide.

Just the start De Jong would have wanted.

Jesper de Jong has had an interesting route to the fourth round after getting into the draw as a lucky loser, before beating former French Open champion Stan Wawrinka in the first round.

He will be hoping he has a better birthday than Iga Swiatek, who exited at the hands of Marta Kostyuk earlier today on the day she turned 25.

Alexander Zverev has been long-tipped to one day win a Grand Slam and there's a growing feeling that the stars may be aligning for him in Paris.

With two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz missing through injury, Jannik Sinner was the odds-on favourite to win the tournament, before his shock exit to Juan Manuel Cerundolo on Thursday.

That was followed by 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic's loss to Joao Fonseca on Friday.

Seeded second, Germany's Zverev is now the favourite to go all the way at Roland Garros. Will he ever get a better chance to win a Slam?

  16. 'Zverev is the one with the experience'published at 14:42 BST

When we look at Alexander Zverev, he's been incredibly consistent over the last couple of years.

He's just been outplayed time and time again by the likes of Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz. He just isn't quite at that level, but the fact that both of them are not in his way now - you'd have to look at him and say, well he's the one that's got that experience of being in Grand Slam finals, including here.

He's worked extremely hard but, as we know, he does have the tendency to tighten up at some crucial moments and I think it is honestly wide open now.

After Jannik Sinner's exit on Thursday, Zverev is now the favourite to win in Paris, while De Jong is aiming to reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final.

The pair haven't faced each other since the second round of the French Open last year, where Zverev came from a set down to win inside four.
