Australia centre Len Ikitau could return for Exeter's Prem trip to Gloucester on Sunday.

The 27-year-old has returned to full training having been out since 20 December after suffering a shoulder injury at Saracens.

Ikitau has played just five times for Exeter having joined on a season-long deal after Australia's Rugby Championship campaign.

He was one of a number of high-profile summer signings, including compatriot Tom Hooper and Italy duo Stephen Varney and Andrea Zambonin, who have helped the Chiefs challenge for a play-off place this season after a ninth-placed finish a year ago.

"Obviously he's a very, very good player - a world class player," Exeter boss Rob Baxter told BBC Radio Devon.

"The challenge for him is going to be to quickly get up to speed with limited game time, because obviously this time of the year you get fit and you play Premiership rugby, that's pretty much it.

"So hopefully he'll get himself up to speed pretty quickly.

"He's a very professional guy. He's trained very well the last couple of weeks so having him involved is obviously a bonus for us now."

The Chiefs are currently 4th in the Prem table.
