Cornish Pirates prop Billy Young and centre Joe Elderkin are the latest players to agree new terms to stay with the Champ club for the 2026-27 season.

Loosehead Young, 26, has played 53 times for Pirates since joining the club in 2023 after then-Championship champions Jersey Reds went bust.

"He's a real pillar of our scrum and student of the game," joint-head coach Alan Paver told the club website, external.

"He's really developed since arriving and he's a formidable guy.

"He's worked extremely hard on his collision, especially in the carry, he's a great addition for next season which allows us continuity in the scrum."

Elderkin, 27, is the club's second longest-serving player having played 107 times and scored eight tries since his debut in 2021.

The Cornish-born back moved to the club from Exeter University and has become a key member of the side.

"Joe is a Pirates centurion and deeply understands what it is to be a Pirate on and off the field," said joint-head coach Gavin Cattle.

"He his a calming influence and is the 'glue' that enhances team cohesion. We are really happy to keep Joe onboard for another season."

The duo take the tally of player to sign new deals this week up to seven - hooker Morgan Nelson, lock Josh King, winger Arthur Relton, fly-half Arwel Robson and full-back Angus Mawson have also agreed new contracts.
