Cornish Pirates sign Agbongbon on permanent deal

Cornish Pirates have agreed to sign back-row Tomiwa Agbongbon from Ealing Trailfinders on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old will commit to the Penzance-based club for the 2026-27 Champ season, having spent the past two seasons on loan at the Mennaye.

He has made 49 appearances since first joining in the autumn of 2024, scoring eight tries.

His fellow Ealing loanee Harry Yates, who has also spent the past two seasons at Pirates, will join Doncaster Knights next season.

"Tomi has quickly become a crowd favourite, with some standout performances highlighted by his strong running game," joint head coach Alan Paver told the club website, external.

"Just as importantly, he connects really well off the field - engaging with supporters and bringing great energy around the club. We're delighted to have him with us."

Scrum-half Dan Hiscocks has signed a contract extension to keep him at the Champ club until the summer of 2027.

The 25-year-old moved to the Mennaye two years ago from Ealing, and has gone on to score 19 tries in 56 games.

He has also captained the Pirates on a number of occasions this season.

Hiscocks is the eighth player to have agreed a new contract this week following prop Billy Young, centre Joe Elderkin, hooker Morgan Nelson, lock Josh King, winger Arthur Relton, fly-half Arwel Robson and full-back Angus Mawson.
