Angharad Evans wasn't born in Scotland. Her parents weren't either. They're from England and Wales. She's from Cambridge and studied in the United States. So how did she end up representing Scotland?

After returning from the US, she opted to train at the University of Stirling and, before long, she'd become one of us.

But that perhaps didn't really hit home for her until she stepped out of the pool her and felt the love of the Glasgow crowd. You could see her stop, mouth 'wow' and a huge smile break across her face.

He might have taken almost a minute more than everyone else to cover the two lengths, but what an ovation Antwahn Boyce-Vaughan of Barbados got as he finished the final few strokes of the men's 100m backstroke S9 event. Tremendous.

He can! Barry McClements upgrades the bronze medal he won in Birmingham four years ago to silver.

The Northern Irishman comes in with a time of 1:03.68 - 0.68 seconds behind Australia's Timothy Hodge in the gold-medal position.

His fellow Australian, Harrison Vig takes bronze.

Defending champion Georgia Godwin of Australia has a lot of ground to make up after the vault and lays down an excellent routine on the uneven bars, finishing with a double-straight.

That will likely close the gap somewhat. Ooh. 12.850. Not by that much. Still well adrift.

Northern Ireland's Barry McClement is in the silver medal position as the swimmers turn for the back 50m! Can he hold on?

It was an Australian 1-2-3 in the heats, but Northern Ireland's Barry McClements and Scotland's Sam Downie were fifth and sixth so they'll be hoping to sneak onto the podium.

McClements won Northern Ireland's first ever Commonwealth Games medal in the pool when he claimed bronze in 2022.

16-year-old Lia-Monica Fontaine has absolutely nailed her uneven bars routine, not even her best discipline.

She's right in this with her 13.100 taking her top of the pile, above teammate Ellie Black, with Ruby Evans now third.

When the swimming starts, it comes thick and fast. Next up, the men's 100m backstroke S9 final...

And they're off! A strong start from Australia's Jasmin Fullgrabe in lane six, but Alice Tai claws it back and hits the wall first at 50m.

Abi Martin's turn for England.

The 19-year-old loses momentum at the top of the uneven bars, just as she did in qualifying.

She gets herself going again but then hops off. Could this be her medal hopes ending before our eyes.

She gets back up there and finishes well, sticking the landing, but she looks bitterly disappointed.

Just a 10.950. Oh dear. That is likely her chances over.

England's Alice Tai is no stranger to standing on the podium.

The 27-year-old won gold in the S8 100m backstroke at the last Games in Birmingham - just months after having her right leg amputated. And at Paris in 2024, she medalled in all five events she competed in.

But Tai was fourth fastest in heats this morning and she is going to have stiff competition from compatriot and rising star Brooklyn Hale.

At only 15-years-old, she's competing in her first Commonwealth Games and was third fastest in heats, so a medal is definitely on the cards for the teenager.

Ghanian athletes here supporting the boxers have brought the vibes at the SEC Centre with their own instruments and constant songs.

Unfortunately for them (but good for me) their first boxer of the night Nancy Bamfo suffered a unanimous decision defeat in her women's bantamweight 54kg round of 16 contest against Team Northern Ireland's Nicole Clyde.

Clyde, who fell at the quarter-final stage four years ago, will now face India's Preeti Preeti in Tuesday's quarter-final.

England's Shantae-Eve Amankwaah produces a fine turn on the uneven bars, finishing with a hop forward, but the 17-year-old is all smiles at she comes off the podium.

13.350 matching the mark she set in qualifying.

She'll be back on this apparatus in the individual final.

Will it be another golden night for the host nation in the pool? The mood music is that it just might be.

Scotland's first two golds of these Games came in the Tollcross water on Friday and a fourth - after Reuben Ward's gymnastics triumph earlier - could come here very soon.

Angharad Evans was so far ahead in qualifying for the women's 100m breaststroke that her rivals might as well have had armbands on. She's rapid. And the Olympic finalist has a point to prove after a disappointing worlds last year.

Scotland's Ellee Cheetham battles away on the beam to the delight of the home crowd but has to hop off towards the end of her routine, though she finishes on a high.

Just a 10.700 from the judges though.

She stuck the landing, even though it looked far simpler than Evans'.
