That was a real positive performance from Birmingham City. I was impressed by the way they attacked and played off the front foot. They look organised and look like they want to win the ball, especially when they are in that high press.
They will cause problems for teams this season.

"We knew it was going to be hard, we knew we're going into these games as underdogs. It's so good first game to show we're here to put in a statement.

Khadija Shaw scored two goals, but Lauren Hemp made a strong case for player of the match.
The Man City winger was at the heart of her side's attacking play, making 21 successful passes into the final third.

In the first half, Man City were probably trying to sus Birmingham City out. Lauren Hemp was the catalyst for Man City, she was causing all sorts of problems on that left side. It was Bunny Shaw who brought it in the end, Birmingham City couldn't keep up.
Very convincing win for Manchester City who are just showing why they are champions.
FT: Charlton 0-4 Liverpool
Liverpool goalscorer Vivien Endemann, speaking to Sky Sports: "It feels very, very good. We had a clean sheet, scored four goals, won the first goal. I'm very happy.
"I think we kept going. It wasn't the best game, especially in the first half. We were quite aggressive in the pressing and we're scoring goals.
"Last season they had a really tough season so now to start with a win is very important for us. We want to keep going."

Manchester City were frustrated after a dominant first half performance yielded no goals, but in the second half they showed their quality with a strike from Mary Fowler and two headers from Khadija Shaw.
Birmingham gave a good account of themselves and could have scored in the first half, but in the end quality told. They deserved their late consolation, and will cause plenty of sides problems this season.

3-1 looks a lot better than 3-0.

It's a defensive disaster for Man City!
Jade Rose takes far too long on the ball with her goalkeeper shouting for a back pass, Oceane Hurtre nicks the ball off her toes and slots into the unguarded net.
It's terrible from a Man City point of view, but Birmingham deserve to get on the scoresheet.

It's a curling ball, difficult to defend, but Khadija Shaw can't quite reach it on the slide. She wants her hat-trick.

Beth Mead, really good wicked powerful delivery, Khadija Shaw's got a lot to do though. Her movement is so good, coming away from the goal, then heading it back towards the goal. Right in the corner, Sophie Baggaley's got no chance.
