Vitor Pereira is up for the Premier League's Manager of the Month award for April, after Forest went unbeaten while scoring 10 goals and conceding two in three matches. In fact, the Reds were undefeated across both of their competitions last month.

On being nominated, Pereira said: "It is maybe a coincidence, but last season, April was my month. Maybe April is my lucky month. I don't know if I deserve, believe me, I don't know, but it's not about me, it's not about me. It's about this team, this group of players that have been fighting a lot, facing a lot of problems this season. And we are in a condition that we can finish the league in a way that they deserve and the supporters deserve. They deserve that we work a lot."

Legendary European Cup winner Garry Birtles says Vitor Pereira has "got Forest playing in a way he loves".

Forest have not lost in nine games and hold a slender advantage over Aston Villa before the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.

"Chris Wood being back in the team is a huge boost. Playing two up front has confused defenders in the past three or four games because you don't often see two up front any more. The manager deserves great credit for that," Birtles told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Pereira has taken everything on board and has got Forest playing in a way he loves. Nine unbeaten is a hell of a run to be on at the moment.

"Pressure comes on you when you're in these moments so it's how you handle that. Hopefully Forest can learn from the end of last season and get over the line in these pressure moments in the Premier League and Europe."

Vitor Pereira speaking in his pre-match news conference on the relegation battle: "We can just control what we can do, what we put every day is on the pitch when we play in our games. And to control our life, we need to put everything there and believe that we can, we'll get the points.

"I don't know how many points, believe me, because I think this season, it will be a special season in terms of points to avoid relegation. It is better to get points every game. It is better to try to win every game, not to wait for the other results."

Nottingham Forest's players have shown they are up for the fight - but is it going to prove enough come the final day?

Taking 10 points from their past four league games has ensured Forest are in control of their own fate in the final month of the Premier League season.

And Vitor Pereira's side have been winning in style, too, scoring nine goals in their past two.

Which Chelsea will we see here? Interim Blues boss Calum McFarlane said we shouldn't question their players' character after they won their FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United last weekend.

That was a good performance but everyone saw that same group down tools and throw the towel in against Brighton a few days earlier in a defeat that led to Liam Rosenior losing his job.

Off the back of those two games, how can anyone predict what we will see from this Chelsea side?

Nottingham Forest, in contrast, are on a roll with the goals suddenly flying in for Vitor Pereira's side.

They are also in European action this week but with Chris "the Woodchopper" Wood back up front, I can see them chipping away at Chelsea and earning another valuable point.

Nottingham Forest may have European silverware on their mind but there's no sign of them taking their eye off the Premier League ball.

The Reds are unbeaten in their past six league matches and have scored nine goals in their past two - timely form in their quest to secure Premier League safety.

Last time out at Sunderland, they were 4-0 up by half-time and went on to win 5-0 - their biggest away win in the top flight since beating Sheffield Wednesday 7-1 in 1995.

That result at the Stadium of Light meant back-to-back Premier League wins for only the second time this season, and for the first time under Vitor Pereira.

Another victory at Chelsea would mean a third in a row for the first time since last season, when they were Champions League contenders for much of the latter half of the campaign.

So can Nottingham Forest take a big leap towards safety this afternoon?

Vitor Pereira's side travel to Stamford Bridge aware victory at Chelsea would move them six points clear of the relegation places, with just three games remaining.

That would be a huge relief, just three days before they bid to reach the Europa League final in their second leg against Aston Villa.

Survival and a European trophy? Now that sounds pretty good, doesn't it Forest fans. Let us know if you think that's on the cards...

And it is to Forest that we next turn our attention...

By the end of the day, Vitor Pereira's side could have reached 42 points - a tally, as we have just discussed, which has been enough for survival in all but one season in Premier league history.

The 2002-03 season stands out in that list of Premier League points needed for survival.

And West Ham fans will not need to be reminded of which unlucky club went down to the Championship after amassing a tally of 42 points.

Yes, the Hammers were undone by a Bolton Wanderers side that was inspired by moments of magic from one Jay Jay Okocha in the run-in, including a wonderful solo goal to beat the Hammers 1-0 in April, as the Whites ended on 44 points to secure their safety.

A Hammers side, packed with internationals such as David James, Glenn Johnson, Trevor Sinclar, Joe Cole, Frederick Kanoute, Jermain Defoe, Paulo di Canio and Les Ferdinand, and inspired by interim manager Sir Trevor Brooking, battled manfully until the final day but just fell short.

The question is, if they were able to pick up six points from their final three games to once again finish on 42 points, would that be enough?
