Cherries losing leads 'something we can definitely fix' - Tavernier

Bournemouth's early-season habit of allowing leads to slip away is "something we can definitely fix", says midfielder Marcus Tavernier.

The Cherries led 2-0 at Newcastle United on Saturday but were pegged back to 2-2, making it seven points dropped from winning positions in the first three games of the season and Marco Rose's reign.

"The dressing room feels deflated in every aspect," Tavernier told BBC Radio Solent.

"It's the same thing as happened last week. We dug in for the majority of the game and have been the better team, but in the second half they came out on top and I don't think we got things going in the way we wanted.

"We defended well for the majority of it but one little mistake lets them back into the game and its 2-2.

"It's something we can definitely fix. It's something we are not shy of knowing we need to improve on. It is another learning curve in that aspect but we cannot dwell in it. There are a lot of positives to take but, at the end of the day, we've only come away with one point when we should have had all three."

Tavernier scored the opener but was withdrawn late for forward Daniel Jebbison, who shared in his annoyance.

"We are all frustrated," Jebbison added.

"It's disappointing but we know what to do to get better and we will train on it throughout the week and be better for the next one.

"It's a lack of focus and doing those little annoying parts of your job that you have to do. The manager is very positive. He is disappointed as well but he expects a lot from us, as he should. He's going to be honest."
