Guernsey FC Women end season with victory

Guernsey FC Women ended their first season in English league football with a 2-1 win at AFC Varsity.

The victory all but ensures a seventh-placed finish for the Green Lionesses in Southern Region Women's Division One South.

They end their inaugural off-island league campaign with seven wins and eight losses from their 20-match season.

Donna Gallienne gave the islanders a 20th-minute lead as she curled in a free kick before Heidi Dawber made it 2-0 five minutes later as she impressively converted Codie Le Flem's pass.

The hosts pulled a goal back before the break as the islanders ended the season with three wins from their final four games.
