Will England come calling for impressive Davis?

Last time Ipswich were in the Premier League in 2024-25 it took them until 10 November to reach six points. This time around, they have reached that total by mid-September.

Their second win of the season, at Crystal Palace on Saturday, was by no means perfect, but Gary O'Neil will surely be encouraged by his side scoring three goals away from home as Ipswich came from behind to snatch victory in the 90th minute.

Town's Leif Davis had a busy afternoon in south London, in what was another impressive performance from the full-back.

After deflecting Anan Khalaili's shot into his own net for Palace's opener, the 26-year-old then provided the assist for Ipswich's equaliser, before scoring himself with a fine header to give the visitors a half-time lead.

Davis also played a part in Ipswich's dramatic, late winner, his looping header from a Julio Enciso cross coming back off the bar before falling kindly to substitute Zian Flemming to slot home.

Davis is a product of Wallsend Boys Club, an famous junior team on Tyneside from which an illustrious list of former players - like Alan Shearer, Michael Carrick and, more recently, Elliot Anderson - have all gone on and played for England.

If the Ipswich man continues this impressive start to the season, international recognition may well soon be on the cards for him too.
