Bell happy to continue unbeaten start

Crewe Alexandra manager Lee Bell is happy to have maintained his side's unbeaten start to the League Two season by snatching an injury-time equaliser at Colchester on Saturday.

Along with leaders Barnet, fifth-placed Walsall, sixth-placed Grimsby Town and Fleetwood, in seventh, the Alex are one of five sides still unbeaten after six league games.

"We're really pleased to come away with a point," Bell told BBC Radio Stoke. "It keeps that unbeaten run going

"It was great to get back on the bus with at least a point. Josh Stephenson took his goal really well.

"When we did get up there in the last 15 minutes, we needed a bit more care.

"We had good opportunities to maybe get another one but we'd have snatched a win had we done that."

Crewe now face a local derby this Saturday when rejuvenated Shrewsbury Town - about to go under new American ownership - visit Gresty Road.

And Bell simply hopes that his side can come up with the same level of performance - but just cut out the errors.

"In that first half we played as well as we have done for a long time away from home," he said.

"The big disappointment is the way the goal comes for all of the territory we had, and it's something we'll have to look at.

"The officiating was way below what we'd expect. We didn't get anything all afternoon. I found it difficult to comprehend and hard to deal with.

"And a little bit of frustration kicked in from the players. But we defended for large parts brilliantly. And, in the end, you take a point."
