West Ham sign winger Austbo from Viking FK

West Ham have signed Norway Under-21 international winger Edvin Austbo from Viking FK for an undisclosed fee, on a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old scored six goals and made seven assists to help Viking win the Eliteserien title for the first time in 34 years.

He was named the league's Young Player of the Year as the Norwegian club also secured qualification for the Uefa Champions League group phase.

Austbo told the club website: "Obviously, the ambitions of the club are big and it's also for me as a player.

"The talks I had with Nuno (Espirito Santo, head coach) and Nils Koppen (director of player recruitment) were amazing and I just felt from the start that this was a good match and that I really wanted to come here".

Koppen added: "Edvin is a player we have tracked closely for some time and we are very happy to bring him to West Ham United. He is a quick, energetic and intelligent player, who will bring another positive option to our attacking profile".

The Hammers sold fellow winger Crysencio Summerville to Saudi club Al-Hilal this summer following their relegation to the Championship.

Austbo is their seventh signing of the current transfer window, following Venezuela midfielder Keiber Lamadrid, experienced Dutch defender Joël Veltman, Israel winger Manor Solomon, Belgium midfielder Arne Engels, Suriname striker Joël Piroe and England U19 international Divine Mukasa.
