Llandudno won promotion to the Cymru Premier as champions of Cymru North

Llandudno celebrated their return to the Cymru Premier with a dramatic late victory over Flint Town United on the opening night of the 2026-27 season.

The Seasiders were the only one of the four promoted clubs to win as Wales' revamped top flight began a new era.

Ammanford, Cambrian United and Trefelin BGC suffered away defeats.

The Cymru Premier has expanded to 16 teams with the majority of fixtures now scheduled for Friday nights in a move by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to increase attendances.

FAW officials will be encouraged by a combined crowd figure of more than 3,600 for the opening four matches.

Callum Sainty's fine strike five minutes into the second half gave Barry Town United the lead against Cambrian United at Jenner Park.

Liam Eason scored Cambrian's first goal in the top flight to bring them level with 19 minutes remaining.

But Cambrian's hopes of picking up an away point were dashed in stoppage time when Daniel Smith netted Barry's winner from a set-piece.

Briton Ferry finished eighth in the 2025-26 Cymru Premier

Matthew Delaney opened the scoring for new boys Ammanford after 13 minutes with a header from summer signing Jonathan Evans' cross.

Ferry were level nine minutes before the break through Ollie Anderson and Luke Bowed secured victory in the second half for Andy Dyer's men.

Jordan Davies scored the first goal of the new season as Colwyn Bay beat newly promoted Trefelin BGC.

Davies scored after just two minutes when he pounced from close range to beat keeper Scott Coughlin following Matty Hill's long throw into the penalty area.

Adam Davies doubled the lead on 37 minutes when he ran through to slot home on his debut.

Adam Stephens gave the hosts a fifth minute lead when he latched onto a through ball from Kieran Lloyd before lifting the ball over goalkeeper Jack Flint.

But Flint were level 11 minutes later when forward Tunde Owolabi scored his first goal since joining The Silkmen during the close season.

Joe Malkin, who was the provider for Flint's first goal, got their second from the penalty spot after Owolabi was fouled in the area.

Marc Williams, now 38, came off the bench to equalise in his first game back since re-signing for Llandudno in the summer.

Another veteran, former Flint player Mark Cadwallader, secured a dramatic win for Llandudno in stoppage time.
