Burnley's Luis could leave club, says Hayen

Burnley boss Nicky Hayen has said Florentino Luis has not explicitly told him that he wishes to leave the club, but conceded that the midfielder could depart this summer.

Luis has been linked with a move to newly promoted Premier League side Hull City following the Clarets' relegation from the top flight last season.

The Portuguese recently joined the Clarets permanently from Benfica because of an obligation to buy following his loan at Turf Moor last term.

"What I can say about Tino is that he's very, very professional," Hayen told BBC Radio Lancashire. "You don't see it on the training ground that there's interest from Hull City.

"He's giving himself every day 100% and this is actually the mindset that I like. So no, he didn't tell me that he wanted to go, but what do you do if you have a Premier League team coming to knock on your door? Of course you're interested to go.

"He will be interested then if all the terms are right, probably he will go, but then it's up to us to find a new solution, even a better solution, because Tino is a top player, but of course we aim always for the highest, and Tino is a very important player, but we always look for the highest standard."

Asked how important it is that Burnley's squad should be committed to the club amid external interest, Hayen said: "If you don't want to be here, then you have to come to me or the chairman and tell [us] that you have other ideas.

"But once we make the step towards the Championship and to play for promotion then everyone needs to be on board and you need to be here with the 100% commitment and want to show that you want to play for the club and this is really important for me."
