Reading have signed defender Conor Masterson on a short-term deal until January.

The 27-year-old former Gillingham and Liverpool academy centre-back is the Royals' sixth addition of the summer window.

He was most recently at the Gills where he made 124 appearances after signing in 2022, before the club confirmed he would depart in May following the expiration of his contract.

"Conor initially came in to train with us and keep himself fit," Reading head coach Leam Richardson said., external

"He's been excellent since he walked through the door. His attitude, his professionalism and the level he's shown every day in training have really impressed us and over that period the situation has developed.

"He's got a lot of experience and he's a very good character to have around the group."
