Reading have signed midfielder Josh Stokes on a season-long loan from Championship side Bristol City.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at fellow League One side Stockport County, scoring five goals in 26 appearances to help them reach the Vertu Trophy and play-off finals.

He previously spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Cambridge United, scoring eight times in 34 games.

Royals boss Leam Richardson told the club website:, external "He's creative, positive in possession and has the ability to unlock defences, whether that's with a pass, by carrying the ball or by contributing goals himself.

"He's got a fantastic attitude. He wants to improve, he's hungry to work every day and he's fully bought into what we're trying to build here."
