Elgin City have appointment Stefan Laird as first-team manager, five days after dismissing Allan Hale "with immediate effect after a finding of gross misconduct".

Laird had been promoted to acting manager on 11 May, four days after the Scottish League 2 club suspending Hale.

Elgin said on X on Friday: "Following the conclusion of an internal investigation conducted in accordance with the club's policies and procedures, we can confirm that the men's first-team manager has been dismissed with immediate effect after a finding of gross misconduct.

"The club will make no further comment on this matter.

"We can now fully focus on the positive process of appointing a new manager and the continuation of our player recruitment plans."

Hale's suspension came after Elgin finished sixth in Scotland's fourth tier. He took charge in December 2023.

The 38-year-old former Fraserburgh player previously managed Highland League clubs Huntly and Keith.

Laird, who has been Hale's assistant during his time at Elgin, will be assisted by Alex Thoirs, who steps up from first-team coach.
