    Leics 236-8 v Notts 490

Olly Stone with a big inswinger and an even bigger shout for lbw against Ajaz Patel. Nervy time for the Leics man as the umpire considers.

He decides it is swinging just a little too much and may have been going down leg side. Very close and could easily have been given.

  2. 50 runs

    for Eskinazipublished at 11:16 BST

    Leics 228-8 v Notts 490

Stephen Eskinazi drops his bat on a Lyndon James delivery to nudge it towards mid off and runs through for a single.

This has been a decent effort from former Middlesex man who arrived at the crease after tea on day two with the Foxes 112-7.

His half-century has come in 123 balls and contained five fours and has been instrumental in helping Leics double that score.

  3. 'Overton strikes early'published at 11:16 BST

    Somerset 274 v Yorkshire 162 & 24-1

    Stephen Lamb
    BBC Radio Somerset

It may have been an expensive first over, but Craig Overton has struck early in his second.

A disappointing and rather slow walk back for Finlay Bean.

    Bean b Overton 12 (Somerset 274 v Yorkshire 162 & 24-1)

    Early breakthrough for Somerset!

Craig Overton gets one through Yorkshire opener Fin Bean and he's on his way cheaply.

Somerset still lead by 88, although Yorkshire do have a strong middle-order with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to come.

  5. 'A perfect start for the Welsh county'published at 11:13 BST

    Hants 58-1 v Glam 536-7d

    Rob Phillips
    BBC Radio Wales commentator

    Glamorgan have struck early!

It's a perfect start for the Welsh county. Kiran Carlson said he thought it'd be a difficult day today to get wickets, but Timm van der Gugten, the old warrior, strikes again.

    He makes a crucial breakthrough.

  6. Postpublished at 11:12 BST

    Surrey 315-2 v Sussex 358-9 dec

A flurry of early boundaries to Ollie Pope has taken the England man up to 31 in quick time.

He's averaging north of 80 this season as he looks to win back his place in the Test side.

  7. 'Middle session will be at risk today'published at 11:10 BST

    Somerset 274 v Yorkshire 162 & 24-0

    Stephen Lamb
    BBC Radio Somerset

We're likely to get an interruption or two with the most risky session in that regard being the middle one. But we're just hoping with all the cloud that's around we don't get deluged on at any stage.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:06 BST

    Albert lbw b van der Gugten 21 (Hants 58-1 v Glam 536-7d)

Early breakthrough for Timm van der Gugten as Toby Albert is pinned.

Third ball of the morning, hints of movement already and Glamorgan are up and running.

  9. Hayes in for Huttonpublished at 11:04 BST

    Leics 222-8 v Notts 490

We are under way at Uptonsteel Grace Road and Notts have confirmed Brett Hutton is out of this match with James Hayes stepping in as substitute.

Hutton had a scan on what is believed to be a calf strain and will play no further part.

The 24-year-old debutant Hayes has had an impact on this game as a sub fielder taking a brilliant catch in the deep to dismiss Tom Scriven in the final session yesterday.

Plenty of eyes will be on Durham's Emilio Gay at Lord's today. The England hopeful struck a fine 75 not out to take his side to 135-1, in reply to Middlesex's 430 all out.

Zak Crawley's lean start to the season for Kent continued as he made just 15 in their second innings against Derbyshire.

Kent resume on 38-2, leading by 86.

Northants will be looking to stretch their first-innings lead against Worcestershire. They start day three on 366-5 and already 60 in front.

  14. Can Yorkshire bring the thunder at Taunton?published at 10:56 BST

    Yorkshire 13-0 & 162 v Somerset 274 – Yorkshire trail by 99 runs

This time yesterday, things looked bleak for Yorkshire.

They had been bowled out for 162 on day one, and then watched as Somerset went to 201-3 by the close.

But Saturday was alright for fighting back - and they took the last seven Somerset wickets for 73 runs, to limit the hosts to 274 and a first-innings lead of 112.

Yorkshire openers Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean managed to survive 27 balls of the second innings, chipping 13 runs off that lead, before rain closed in.

Speaking of which, there is no imminent threat at Taunton, with the players going through their warm-ups and the wicket and outfield uncovered.

But this is how the forecast looks for the day.

Any meteorologists out there - thunder isn't conducive to cricket, is it?

  15. Carlson pride at 'box ticked off' but now aims for winpublished at 10:54 BST

Kiran Carlson said there will be time to reflect on the achievement of his double hundred after their game but admitted it was nice to finally “tick that box off”.

The Glamorgan skipper has been close before but got over the line this time with 209 as the visitors racked up 536-7dec against Hants who made it to 58-0 at the close.

“I've got a couple of scores where I was nearing 200 in the past so it is nice to get there in the end and tick that box off," said Carlson. "I feel like I have been batting well all year so it was nice to put it into a big score.

"After this game I will do some reflecting and I'm sure it will sink in. I'm really proud of myself. Every cricketer around the country puts hours in the nets and you get a few of these moments.

"Growing up in Cardiff and living here my whole life, representing Wales and the club and to be able to do it as captain is awesome.”

Hants bowling coach Shane Burger maintained the late fightback provided a boost as Nick Gubbins and Toby Albert were unbeaten at the close.

"We showed the fighting character that we want to see from the team," he said. "It by no means makes up for day one but it puts us in a little bit of a better position.”

  16. Stone not finished with Foxes or Englandpublished at 10:52 BST

    Leics 220-8 (trail by 270 runs) v Notts 490

Nottinghamshire’s Olly Stone maintained he still has plenty to offer as a fast bowler if England come knocking again.

Stone laid waste to the Leicestershire middle order taking 5-41 as the Foxes were reduced to 220-8 at the close chasing Notts' first innings 490.

And Stone admitted he had not given up on more international recognition should it come this summer.

“I was really happy with the way I bowled. It felt good, probably the best I've felt this year. It was nice just to be enjoying myself,” he said.

“It's obviously been disappointing with my injuries. But I know I've always got performances like today in the locker. Hopefully I’ve shown today that I've still got plenty in the tank, plenty to offer here with Notts and long may it continue.

“In terms of England, whether that race is run, I don't know. That's obviously not down to me. I'm just going to enjoy my cricket here keep working hard for Notts.

“If we can keep getting wins on the board and get that Championship table again, if a phone call comes, great. If not, I'll just keep enjoying it here.”

  17. Centurion Sibley resists Sussexpublished at 10:49 BST

    Surrey 292-2 v Sussex 358-9 dec – Surrey trail by 66 runs

Saturday at The Oval was all about Dom Sibley doing Dom Sibley things.

He compiled an unbeaten 116, from 268 deliveries, with only 32 of those runs coming from boundaries.

Ably supported by skipper, and opening partner-in-crime, Rory Burns (77) and Ryan Patel (67), Sibley was later joined by Ollie Pope, who remains at the crease on 14 not out.

Surrey added 273 runs yesterday, for the loss of just two wickets, in a day that was curtailed by rain.

Sussex, who declared late on day one in a doomed bid to dislodge one of the Surrey openers in the 10 overs before the close, know they need wickets quickly if they are to avoid a sizeable first-innings deficit.

They will be buoyed by the cloud cover this morning, and the forecast is for potential rain to disrupt things this afternoon.
