Simpson-Sullivan receives late call-up to Games

Tara Simpson-Sullivan won the British title in 2021 on her UK Championships debut

Cumbrian hammer thrower Tara Simpson-Sullivan has been called up to the England team for the Commonwealth Games.

The 25-year-old, from Penrith, who studied at Rice University in Texas, has been added because of injury to Anna Purchase who won the UK title last month.

Simpson-Sullivan took bronze at the UK Championships with a throw of 63.90m behind Purchase and Charlotte Payne.

The women's hammer qualifiers take place on on Monday with the final on Tuesday at Scotstoun Stadium.
