US deadline to secure Congressional approval on Iran war passes

Newsday

Available for 29 days

The deadline for President Donald Trump to secure authorization from Congress to continue the war against Iran has just passed. Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth argued the 60-day clock was paused under the ceasefire. This comes as military plans for a 'lightning' strike were apparently presented to the president. We speak to a former NATO commander. One of the world's biggest producers of fertiliser has said that the interruption to supply and production caused by the US-Israeli war on Iran is jeopardising global food production. And the jihadist group that led large-scale attacks around Mali earlier this week has called for the country to unite to overthrow the military government. Presenters: James Copnall and Anne Soy.
