The borough where families are slowly disappearing

London Latest

Available for over a year

The London borough of Islington may seem like a great place in London to raise a family but it has one of the lowest fertility rates in the country. With expensive housing and childcare costs and closing schools, Islington is just one of many inner London boroughs - like Wandsworth and Southwark - where the birth rate is declining and families are leaving for outer boroughs or even other countries. Since 2012 inner London has seen a twenty per cent drop in births. So is London on its way to becoming a child free city? Image credit: Getty Images
