The Conservatives' announced a new policy recently, to lift the effective ban on air conditioning in new build houses. Three percent of homes in Britain have air conditioning. It's about 90 percent in the US, where it uses 19 percent of household energy. Labour says it's sticking with the rules, which means air con can only be a last resort for developers. Climate change activists have warned about the dangers of a massive adoption of air conditioning technology – but in the face of increasing temperatures, more and more people are saying they can’t live without it.
