The coverage by the international media whilst telling the story of the war in Ukraine, has come in for some criticism, particularly some of the reporting, comparing what is happening in Europe with other forms of conflict in the global south and in Africa. Many have called out the problematic nature of these narratives - that the impact of the war is somehow more shocking because it's happening to white Europeans.
