Roofing Scams, Years Dog Food, TikTokification of Retail

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Roofing scams are on the rise across the UK. These scams see unscrupulous firms or criminals using pressure tactics to con people into agreeing to work which is not needed, poor quality or never completed. The Confederation of Roofers says its seeing a big rise in poor practice by firms and that the elderly are being increasingly targetted. We hear about the nightmare one person faced when she was convinced to have work done to her roof by one unscrupulous firm. And Gemma Dohery from the Confederation of Roofing Contractors explains the tactics being used and the red flags to look out for. Premium dog food brand Years has been accused of selling a product linked to a serious eye condition in dogs by more than a hundred of pet owners. Years says an independent investigation has shown that their pet food meets every safety standard. But they have admitted there are still questions they can't yet answer, including the number of affected dogs who had been eating Years. We hear from one affected pet owner and Rebecca Swan, Lawyer at Miscon de Reya, which is representing other pet owners. And we'll be talking about the "Tiktokification" of retail from viral products to "five things to buy now". How is social media and influencer content shaping not just how we shop in supermarkets but how retailers stock the shelves? We hear from content creator Claudia Greiner and retail expert Kate Hardcastle. PRODUCER - CATHERINE EARLAM PRESENTER - WINIFRED ROBINSON
