Jason Mohammad takes your calls on storms, pylons and old vs new music

The Phone In

Available for 27 days

Hundreds of homes were left without power on Sunday morning after back-to-back storms led to flooding and felled trees in Wales. 84mph winds were recorded in Conwy, more than 150 homes were without power in Ceredigion. Police forces and councils said they have been dealing with flooding and trees down as Storm Boelo followed Storm Austen over the weekend, while there is also significant disruption on Wales' railways. As the first storms have hit the country, are you worried for the winter ahead? The Welsh government has announced plans to ban the use of traditional steel pylons to support electricity lines over which it has control. Plaid Cymru ministers favour burying cables underground instead. They say that undergrounding electricity circuits could "reduce the visual impact of electricity infrastructure, helping to protect landscapes and local amenity". However, the consultation document also acknowledges that undergrounding was "generally considered more expensive to install and maintain and could create construction impacts during installation". Do you support the ban? And finally, Paul McCartney has revealed that he thinks some of today's popular songs are "banal." On Amy Poehler's podcast, the 84-year-old was asked whether there was any current music that he wished he’d written… His reply? "No, no, not really." So, does modern music live up to the classics?
