Songs for late October and remembering Dónal Lunny
The Folk Show with Mark RadcliffeAvailable for 29 days
The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond. Mark remembers the late Dónal Lunny with music by his bands Planxty, Mozaik and The Bothy Band, and an example of his work with Kate Bush. Dónal was a driving force in Celtic folk music from the early 70s onward and his talent and inspiration changed the genre. He passed away aged 79 on 23 October. There's also another chance to hear Van Morrison present a prize to Dónal at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in Belfast in 2018. Plus, a 'souling' song for Halloween, All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, which all fall on the misty threshold of October and November. Produced by Pomona Audio in Salford for BBC Radio 2.
