Available for over a year
A You and Yours investigation has uncovered prescription sleeping tablets being sold as herbal remedies on Amazon. You and Yours listener Fiona Cameron contacted the programme after she became addicted to Zopiclone after taking the tablets for almost a year. She tells the programme about the terrible withdrawl symtoms she has endured. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency says it is investigating the tablets which are no longer available for sale on Amazon, to determine whether any further action is required. Winifred Robinson also speaks to Laura Wilson Director for Scotland from the Royal College of Pharmacy and Kerry Nichol, External Affairs Manager at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. Amazon say third party sellers on Amazon Marketplace are independent businesses, required to follow all applicable laws, regulations, and Amazon policies. The pills have now been removed from sale. Demand for air con has sky rocketed during the recent heatwaves but what are the pros and cons of getting air con installed? We hear from an installer who's seen enquiries spike in recent weeks as well as someone who has air con in their home. Ben Gallizzi energy expert at Uswitch.com talks us through the different options, costs and considerations when it comes to getting air con installed. Ofcom has annouced today that telecoms companies must follow new rules designed to screen out more scam text messages. 100 million of them are reported as spam each year. We often feature stories about these kinds of scams on Your and Yours including the so called 'Hello Mum' texts where a scam text pretends to come from a child. Amy Jordan is one of Ofcom's Directors of Strategy and explains how these new rules will work. PRODUCER: CATHERINE EARLAM PRESENTER: WINIFRED ROBINSON
