When Def Leppard scored a Transatlantic number 1 hit with 1987's Hysteria, it was more of a surprise that they even existed as a band at all. 1983's Pyromania had given them the mainstream success they'd been so hungry for, but the following three years saw them experiencing every kind of crisis imaginable, and some that no-one could have predicted, including the accident which cost drummer Rick Allen his left arm.
