London Voices, founded by the late Terry Edwards in 1973 and now under the direction of conductor and composer Ben Parry, has worked with everyone from Ozzy Osbourne to Karlheinz Stockhausen. As part of Wigmore Hall's 125th Anniversary, the choral ensemble dives into the shimmering textures and mercurial moods of Stockhausen's Stimmung, an incantatory combination of vocal colours for six voices and six microphones that includes the ‘magic names’ of gods and goddesses, the composer’s erotic poetry and contemplative overtone singing. Karlheinz Stockhausen: Stimmung London Voices: - Joanna Forbes L'Estrange (soprano) - Alison Ponsford-Hill (soprano) - Heather Cairncross (alto) - Richard Eteson (tenor) - Ben Parry (bass) - Nicholas Garrett (bass) Recorded on Friday 5 June at Wigmore Hall.
