New music for spring and remembering Moya Brennan

The Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe

Available for 29 days

The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond. Altan's Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh remembers her friend and fellow Donegal native, Moya Brennan of Clannad. Moya passed away earlier this week. Clannad were formed by the Brennan family in 1970 and went on to sell millions of albums worldwide. Their soundtrack work in the mid-1980s would define the Celtic new-age sound, leading to Grammy Awards and collaborations with rock stars. The Gaelic language and traditional folk were always present in their material, placing them - along with sister Enya - among the greatest ambassadors of Irish music. Plus, a selection of new music for spring. Produced by Pomona Audio in Salford for BBC Radio 2
