Weston PierDear Lord, Thank you for Weston Pier. It was a place we held so dear, And though it’s gone it will return, And for that day our hearts will yearn. But in these days when our friend's laid low, And smoulders in the afterglow - We think a little of the fun Our pier has given everyone. We played on it. We walked. We sang. Ate candy floss and laughed and ran. We watched the Punch and Judy Show And saw sweet donkeys down below. Ice-cream treats and funny hats. Seagulls soaring overhead, Surfboards as the times moved on! And days of joy on which we fed. We went with families, Uncles, Aunts, And strolled on it before the dance We went to at the Winter Gardens - When all was gay and "beg your pardons." "Beg pardons" as we mourn our loss But in You who died upon a Cross Look forward to the times to come For You look after everyone." last updated: 24/10/2008 at 15:46 SEE ALSOYou are in: Somerset > Weston Pier fire > Prayer for Weston's Grand Pier pavillion [an error occurred while processing this directive] |
