    I've finally returned from that other dimension known as Doctor Who Live. After touring round the country in a big bus, stopping off only to exterminate thousands of enthusiastic fans every night, Radio 7 seems all very peaceful and cosy. Everyone's welcomed me back very nicely, many colleagues asking me how the tour went. I've resisted doing my Winston Churchill impersonation (I played him in the show, by the way) for fear of ridicule, though.

    I'm lucky enough to be able to say that my life is as busy as ever with all things Doctor Who. On returning from the tour, I was straight into the studio to record two new audio books and aside from the usual script writing (one of Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy, another for Fourth Doctor Tom Baker), I've had the exhausting task of playing toy cars with my 17 month old son Ben, who's also acquiring language at a phenomenal rate.

    It's his own language, you understand… in which 'voom' means 'phone' and 'tock' means 'hot', but one thing he gets spot on every time I put my coat on to come to Broadcasting House is 'Bye, bye', which he says in a sort of 'yeah, yeah, whatever' kind of way. Luckily, there are some nice people here to console me.
