Programme guests - Nick Maes, Dave Dodd, Fiona Jeffrey
Holidaymakers venturing abroad should shop around for good deals. A number of holiday tour and flight operators are currently offering discounts on their holidays. Package deals can offer a much better deal than purchasing 'flight only' options.
Nick mentioned a few locations currently offering good value: *Flights, holidays and tours in South Africa *Camping is currently enjoying a revival. Many fashion designers are producing camping equipment and there are a number of publications with helpful tips and advice *For a more unsusual destination, how about staying in a monastery or and convent? These can provide good value accommodation in locations such as Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy and Moravia
Dave Dodd looked at how Iceland is weathering the current economic crisis. He recommended the Iceland Air Waves Festival and a volcanic spa resort of the Blue Lagoon. There are also good deals to be found on flights and packages to Iceland. The festival is a yearly event and is still due to take place at time of broadcast.
Some regions mentioned on the programme may be experiencing civil unrest. We advise checking the latest situation with the Foreign Office Travel Advisory Service before booking or travelling.
