Metallica Night on Radio 1

We celebrated Metallica playing at the BBC Radio Theatre just for us by devoting an entire evening to the rock legends.

On Monday 15 September, we dedicated five hours worth of programmes to the band.

7 - 9pm Zane Lowe heard from Metallica themselves, the bands that influenced them and the artists they have influenced - including cover versions and remixes, and Lars' own guide to the albums they've made.

9 - 11pm We played out Metallica's live set from the BBC Radio Theatre, recorded on Sunday 14 September. Then Daniel P. Carter continued the night with reactions from people who were there and interviews with Black Tide and Max Cavalera. SEE PICS FROM THE GIG

11 - 12am 'Radio 1 Stories: Metallica', a 60 minute documentary about the band featuring brand new and archive interviews with every member of the band.
