Fighting the Silent Killer

Preventing, detecting and treating the silent killer, sepsis.

Presenter Becky Green lost one of her twins to sepsis in 2018. Eight years on she meets the doctors, scientists and campaigners reimagining how we prevent, detect and treat this silent killer. Every year sepsis claims more lives than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined, yet it too often goes unrecognised until it is too late - from a Madrid hospital whose dedicated sepsis code programme has demonstrably cut patient mortality, to a landmark study across sixty hospitals in Malawi and Uganda working to protect mothers from infection, Becky uncovers the breakthroughs bringing hope to families worldwide.
