Eritrean president says US backed TPLF

Eritrea’s president Isaias Afwerki has said that the United States aided the TPLF during its two-year war with the Ethiopian federal government. President Afwerki says American pressure prompted the Tigrayan rebel group to agree to a hurried ceasefire, in order to avert further losses.

Plus, a group of pensioners have held a protest outside Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, angry about government plans to restructure the country’s national debt in order to meet the terms required to get a bailout from the IMF.
