
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigns
The UK Prime minister has resigned 48-hours after over 50 ministers and senior government officials stepped down in protest over his leadership.
Boris Johnson has resigned as the Conservative leader here in the United Kingdom, 48 hours after dozens of ministers stepped down in protest over his leadership. Mr Johnson says he plans to stay in Downing Street until a new party leader has been elected to replace him as PM.
In Burkina Faso the former president Blaise Compaoré is back in the country, after being on exile in Ivory Coast since 2014. Mr Compaoré returned at the invitation of the military junta ruling Burkina Faso, to take part in discussions with other heads of state aiming to bring an end to the country’s political impasse.
Also, on the program we have an update on the trial of the Nigerian Senator Ike Ekweremdu, who along with his wife, Beatrice, are accused of conspiring to bring a person to the UK for organ donation. The couple appeared at the Uxbridge Magistrate’s Court today. The judge has accepted that the complainant is not a child as previously reported.
