Senegal: Eleven new-born babies die in hospital fire

Senegal's President Macky Sall has confirmed that eleven new-born babies have died in a fire at the maternity ward of Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital in the western city of Tivaouane.

He said an investigation was under way and he would be cutting his trip short to return to Senegal immediately.

African ministers attending Zimbabwe’s elephant summit are expected to come up with proposals on how to manage the continent’s elephant population - the largest in the world.
