Why is Zambia's president replacing army and police chiefs?

The president said the new security chiefs “must have the interest of the people".

Zambia’s new President Hakainde Hichilema has replaced the country’s top military commanders and the head of the police and signaled a focus on the security forces being more accountable to the citizens.

The EU ambassador to the Gambia has confirmed authorities in Banjul are refusing to accept more than 2000 Gambian refuges who are being deported from Germany.

Former Boko Haram combatants and associates are arriving in northern Cameroon in significant numbers, they are surrendering to Cameroonian soldiers and are being taken to temporary centers in the region.
