A Swiss court has sentenced the Israeli businessman Beny Steinmetz to five years in prison. He was found guilty of bribing public officials in Guinea to gain control of the country's iron ore deposits.
A state of emergency has been declared in the Central African Republic where armed rebel groups have advanced on the capital, Bangui.
