Reports and analysis of the day's political, economic and sports news from across Africa.
Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan have reached an initial agreement on the filling and operation of a mega dam being built on the River Nile.
The preliminary agreement was brokered by US treasury secretary and the World Bank president, with a final deal to be signed on 28-29 January, when ministers from the three countries meet again in Washington DC.
Four people have been killed in Guinea in the latest round of demonstrations opposing a proposed change to the constitution that could allow President Alpha Conde to run for a third term.
