It’s 1962 and rock 'n' roll band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes are playing a summer season at Butlin’s in Skegness.
One day, the holiday camp receives a phone call for the band’s drummer, Ringo Starr.
It’s from a man called Brian Epstein, who manages an up-and-coming band called The Beatles. Would Ringo be interested in joining them?
Karl Bird hears from Ringo’s former Hurricanes bandmate Bobby Thomson and Redcoats of the day, including TV’s Johnny Ball, about how a Lincolnshire holiday camp played an unlikely part in the story of one of the world’s most famous pop groups.
Presented by Karl Bird.
